Recipe for Post # 6 Perfect Popcorn

  • 3 Tbl canola oil (or other high temp oil(
  • 1/3 to 1/2 cup unpopped popcorn (no more than this)
  • optional butter and salt to taste

Place a medium sized pot with a lid on the stove and heat oil over medium heat.  While oil is heating, place one or two kernels of unpopped corn in the oil.  When those two kernels have popped, remove them and add the rest of the corn and cover.  Take pan off heat and allow to sit for 30 seconds.  Put back on heat.  Popping will start quickly.  Shake pot to keep kernels from burning.  When popping slows to a few seconds between each pop, remove from stove.  Immediately place popped corn in a large bowl.  Add butter, salt, or other seasonings as desired.
