It’s going to be a short post today.  I’m insanely busy for one reason or another.  But something happened that I wanted to share with you.

Yesterday, I made brownies.  Brownies are so good.  Lots of gooey chocolate and they can be made in about a bazillion different ways.  The pan I made yesterday were of the simplest variety.  Sugar, cocoa, butter, flour and egg in the right proportion and baked at the right temerature for the correct amount of time.  They rose splendidly and remained moist in the center and slightly crusty on the outside.

I posted to my FB page after I had eaten the first one that I can’t imagine anything better than warm homemade brownies.  I made them in the early part of the afternoon, and let them cool on the counter as you’re supposed to do if you don’t want the baked sugar to scald the inside of your mouth.  Once they were cooled, I cut them into nine equal squares since it was an 8×8 sqaure pan.  I could have cut them smaller but why bother?  I took one and gave it to FiL and ate another myself.  I had one after dinner.  Partner/spouse had one after dinner.

This is what I saw this morning at 6am as I was feeding the dogs:

Someone enjoyed the heck out of them!

Here’s the recipe if you’re tempted to try them out:

1/2 cup butter

1/2 cup cocoa

1 1/2 cup sugar

2 eggs

3/4 cup flour

1/2 – 1 full tsp vanilla

Melt butter in a medium sauce pan.  Add cocoa and mix thoroughly.  Add sugar and continue stirring until sugar dissovles into chocolate mixture.  Remove from heat.  Add vanilla and eggs and stir until mixed well.  Add flour and stir until just combine and no white flour streaks are visible.  Pour into a greased 8x8x2 pan and bake at 350 for about thirty-five to forty minutes.  Remove from oven and cool completely.  Cut and serve!
